Laser vibration sensing technology can detect landmines faster than traditional techniques
Researchers at the National Center for Physical Acoustics are developing a faster and more efficient way to detect buried objects such as landmines using laser arrays and vibrating machines. In this image, objects buried in the soil appear as red blobs. NCPA Chief Scientist Vyacheslav Aranchyk (right) recently introduced the technology at a conference in Japan.
