Rewriting equations for ice deformation and flow in watery glaciers

This polarized image shows a grain of ice deformed during an experiment using a ring shear device at Neil Iverson’s Iowa State Laboratory. The experiments showed that the particles grew about three times larger on average during the experiment and developed more irregular boundaries.
